Juventus head coach Max Allegri makes no secret of the fact that he is targeting the Serie A title next season, but feels that Inter are still the team best-placed to win it.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, Allegri gave his thoughts on the upcoming Serie A title race and named the Nerazzurri as the favourites even though he feels that his own team must fight for it.

Last season both Inter and Juventus missed out on the Scudetto, with the Nerazzurri relinquishing their crown to city rivals AC Milan by a margin of two points whilst Allegri could not guide the Bianceoneri to the title as he had done in all five seasons of his previous spell in charge.

This summer has seen both Inter and Juventus very active on the transfer market, however, and both Allegri and his Inter counterpart Simone Inzaghi have had their second full preseason in charge, and so the expectations will be higher in both cases.

“The difference for Juve this season will be our objectives,” Allegri said. “We have to return to winning.”

He continued that “Last season we did well defensively but we were lacking goals, we were the eleventh-best attack in Serie A and such numbers are clearly not enough to win the title.”

“Inter are still the favourites,” he predicted. “Milan had an extraordinary season, this will be an interesting challenge for them because repeating a title is always difficult.”
