Roma wingback Leonardo Spinazzola believes that newly-arrived Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a player who can add plenty to the Nerazzurri’s midfield this team.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Spinazzola praised the Armenian for his well-rounded game.

Mkhitaryan has undergone something of a stylistic evolution since his arrival in Serie A, with his three seasons at Roma having seen him move from being an attacking winger to more of a central midfielder under Paulo Fonseca and then Jose Mourinho.

The 33-year-old arrives at Inter as a backup to Hakan Calhanoglu on paper, as he can play as either a left-sided mezzala or as more of an attacking midfielder, and like the Turk he is a player whose creative and technical qualities have always been obvious but who seems to have added more workrate and defensive qualities to his game over the years.

“He’ll be missed,” Spinazzola said the Armenian who left the Giallorossi on a free transfer this summer, “He’s a player who provides quality and quantity, he’s a great guy.”
