Former Genoa Direcotr Giorgio Perinetti believes that Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic would be the ideal option for a club like Inter looking to strengthen in defense.
Asked about the links between the Serb and Inter in an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the executive enthusiastically praised Milenkovic and suggested that he would have the right qualities to make the step up.
Milenkovic has looked to have been one of the main names on Inter’s list to strengthen in defense this summer, with the 24-year-old one of the first major transfer links when it looked as though Milan Skriniar could be sold.
The Serbian international still appears to be one of the main targets to replace Skriniar should he be sold, but with the Slovakian increasingly unlikely to leave, he could even still be brought in as a depth option in defense.
For his part, Perinetti believes that there are few doubts about Milenkovic stylistically or in terms of his quality.
“Milenkovic would be the right option for anyone,” he opined. “He’s ready for a top club and is capable of playing in a high defensive line. If he’s still on the market he could be an excellent option.”
