Inter are ready to hand defender Milan Skriniar a new deal until the end of June 2027, and could also make him captain once current skipper Samir Handanovic leaves or retires.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri have an offer of a new contract worth €6 million net per season ready for the Slovakian, as well as the possibility of making him club captain.

After it had looked as though Skriniar was destined to leave Inter to join Paris Saint-Germain in a big money sale earlier in the window, the feeling now is that he will instead stay this summer.

The 27-year-old’s current contract runs out at the end of June 2023 and so his deal would need to be extended, but the club are ready to do this.

Moreover, the captain’s armband could also be in Skriniar’s future, with the Slovakian one of the main candidates to take over when Handanovic leaves or retires, possibly to go into coaching.
