Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi looks to have three major tactical issues with his squad that he is yet to resolve as he prepares the squad for the start of the upcoming season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who name the balance between starters and backups in attack, the defensive setup, and the left wingback positions as the coach’s main dilemmas.

In attack, the unconvincing displays by Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa in a friendly loss to Lens will give the coach some major doubts about the suitability of the pair as backups to Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Accordingly, he will be considering how he can get the best out of all four of his forward options without the team suffering a clear dropoff between when the starters are playing versus the backup options.

Meanwhile, in defense Inzaghi will be thinking about the balance of who should start in the heart of the back three when Stefan de Vrij is not available or rested, with Milan Skriniar not entirely convincing in the buildup phase.

Lastly, the left wingback position could be a problem area for the coach if Robin Gosens doesn’t find fitness and form for the start of the season, and the Nerazzurri coach is thinking about how to ensure as smooth a transition from Ivan Perisic who had made it a real position of strength.
