Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri can play a similar role for Simone Inzaghi in his new position of Club Manager that Lele Oriali did working alongside Antonio Conte.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who suggest that the 58-year-old could have an important part to play in mediating between different parts of the club to make sure that everyone is pushing in the same direction.

Legendary former Inter midfielder Oriali had been part of Conte’s staff during the current Tottenham Hotspur coach’s two seasons in charge at the Nerazzurri, where he worked alongside the head coach and made sure that everything went smoothly with the squad as well as the club hierarchy.

Oriali left last summer, following Conte out the door and focusing strictly on his role in Roberto Mancini’s Italian national team staff, and was not replaced like-for-like.

However, now another former player with a strong connection to the club has been appointed in the Club Manager role in the form of Oriali, and he will be expected to liaise between Inzaghi, the squad, and the club directors.

Ferri can be an important calming influence during the upcoming season, something which had been very much important when the fiery and outspoken Conte was on the bench but which could also server to help to keep things running smoothly under the more subdued Inzaghi.
