Inter are likelier to extend the contract of defender Stefan de Vrij than they are to sell him, but could still allow the Dutchman to leave if the right offer arrives.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri would be willing to listen to offers of €15-20 million for the Dutchman, but that so far none have arrived.

De Vrij’s contract currently runs out at the end of June 2023, and Inter do not want to lose him on a free transfer, and so they will aim to extend his contract soon so that he cannot start negotiating with other clubs as early as January.

Inter would have no issue with de Vrij remaining, although particularly given that he was signed from Lazio on a free transfer in the summer of 2018, they could be tempted by the substantial capital gain that selling him for a decent fee would represent.

There has been some tentative interest, particularly from the Premier League, but no clubs have come close to making a real offer for the 30-year-old, and so at the moment the Nerazzurri’s priority is a contract renewal.
