Former Palermo coach Giuseppe Sannino believes that Paulo Dybala would not have had an easy time fitting in to Simone Inzaghi’s system of play at Inter and will be tactically better off at Roma.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Sannino gave his thoughts on the 28-year-old’s choice of club this summer after a long-anticipated move to the Nerazzurri fell through.

Had Dybala made the switch to Inter, the Argentine would have likely played as part of a two-man attacking unit, although an attacking midfield role would not have been out of the question, especially in certain formations.

While at Juventus, Dybala’s preferred position was always a matter of debate and it was not always clear how to best fit him into the team to utilize his qualities, something which will also be true at Roma, but Sannino believes that he would not have been at his best at Inter in particular.

“In Simone Inzaghi’s well-tested system he would have struggled,” the coach predicted. “Mourinho plays in a different way and with Dybala he has brought quality, a player who is much closer to Totti than to Zaniolo.”
