Midfielder Matias Vecino is on the verge of making Lazio his next club after leaving Inter at the end of his contract last month.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Uruguayan is set to undergo his medicals with the Biancocelesti on Monday ahead of a move.

Vecino departed from Inter at the end of his contract which expired last month, with the Uruguayan not a part of the Nerazzurri’s plans going forward, and there were a host of clubs interested in his signature.

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was one of the keenest on Vecino, a player who he coached for a season whilst in charge of Empoli, and the reunion is set to take place in the Italian capital.

The 30-year-old should undergo his medicals ahead of the move at the start of next week and then immediately start training, and Sarri will want him to add some physicality and energy in the midfield trio for next season.
