Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that young Nerazzurri midfielder Cesare Casadei is a player with great potential within the game even if he is not yet the finished article.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TR24, the Nerazzurri executive gave his thoughts on the 19-year-old, who he stressed still has a long way to go to really make his mark within the game, but is also already showing big glimpses of what he can do in training with the senior team.

Casadei was one of the real standout players from Inter’s championship-winning Primavera team last season, and this summer his future looks to be in the balance as a number of teams are interested in signing him.

Premier League giants Chelsea are the latest team to be linked with Casadei, whilst a number of clubs in Serie A are also keen on the young midfielder, who had been part of unsuccessful negotiations between Inter and Torino for defender Bremer.

Marotta said of Casadei that “Today he’s a young talent. He still has a long way to go before he can become a top player, but we’re very proud to have him with us.”

“He’s training with the first team,” the CEO explained, “he’s proving to be at a very good level.”

“Right now I can only talk about him in positive terms as he’s above average for his age, and after that a lot depends on him,” Marotta said.

“It will depend how he’s able to map out his future, because apart from the technical qualities, you also have to have the personal ones which are often more important in football,” he said of the young midfielder.
