AC Milan right-back Alessandro Florenzi feels that Juventus are slightly ahead of Inter for the Serie A title next season, whilst he also feels that the Rossoneri should not be overlooked as contenders to defend their Scudetto crown.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 31-year-old emphasized the Bianconeri’s strengthening of their squad this summer as a reason why they are favourites, particularly highlighting the arrival of Angel Di Maria.

All of the top teams in Serie A have made various additions to their squad during the summer transfer window so far, and they may not be finished with a month still left to run before the window closes.

Inter have made some high-profile signings, not least the shock return of Romelu Lukaku, whilst Milan’s business has gone somewhat more under the radar, but the Bianconeri have arguably had the most eye-catching window of any team in Italy so far.

Juventus’s business has included bringing back Paul Pogba on a free transfer from Manchester United, beating Inter to the signing of Torino defender Bremer, and also signing Florezni’s former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Angel Di Maria.

“I know I’m doing Inter a bit dirty, but I’d say Juve,” he said of the title race, “they’ve strengthened more. Di Maria is the top winger I’ve ever played with down my flank. Even better than Salah, who hadn’t yet exploded at Roma.”

Regarding the predictions of pundits that one of the Bianconeri or the Nerazzurri will win the Scudetto this season, Florenzi replied “They said the same thing in the summer of 2021 and then you know what happened.”

“I don’t let it bothered me,” he said of his team being written off in the Scudetto race, “let’s say it will bother me if they raise the title in June.”
