Federico Dimarco is likely to be given the starting spot at left-wingback in Inter’s Serie A debut against Lecce on August 13.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that it is anticipated that the 24-year-old will be the most ready to play in the role particularly given the fitness issues of Robin Gosens.

Gosens is set to be Inter’s first-choice left-wingback for the upcoming season, with the club still putting their trust in the German to find his best form following a January move from Atalanta.

However, the 28-year-old is coming back from a muscle problem in preseason, and is not likely to be at his best when the beginning of the campaign arrives.

Despite being used more as a centre-back in a back three by Simone Inzaghi since his return to Inter from a loan spell with Torino, Dimarco is still adept at playing the wingback position, something which he did from the start in Saturday’s friendly against Lyon.

As such, it is likely to be the 24-year-old who starts against Lecce.
