Italian journalist Andrea Di Caro believes that Inter go into the Serie A season more likely to win the title than city rivals and defending champions AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Di Caro gave his thoughts on the upcoming title race and stressed that while the Nerazzurri look strong on paper the unusual schedule could play a factor.

Inter lost out to the title last season by just two points, as they stumbled badly during February and March to allow Milan back into the race and then the Rossoneri crested in form at the crucial moments of the campaign.

Nevertheless, the Nerrazzurri will feel that their squad remains strong, and arguably has even improved over the summer particularly given the return of Romelu Lukaku.

Di Caro believes that indeed the Nerazzurri have more to them as far as fighting for the Serie A title than their city rivals.

“Inter are better equipped than Milan,” he said, “even though this will be a strange season, we’ll play a lot in a short period and then have a long break. In my opinion it will be a more exciting title race than the last one.”
