Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali believes that AC Milan are the favourites to defend their title during the upcoming Serie A season and that Inter and Juventus are just behind them.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Il Giornle, the executive gave the view that the Rossoneri are still the best-placed team for the Scudetto but that the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are the next in the running.
Milan are broadly considered to be in the mix for the Scudetto next season, but for many pundits they are not the clear favourites, with the transfer windows of Inter and Juventus among the main factors for their being named as favourites by many.
For Carnevali, however, the Rossoneri’s status as defending Italian champions gives them something that their rivals lack, and the Neroverdi executive positions them as still being the team to beat based on the fact that they’ve already proven themselves.
“Milan are starting out in pole position because they’re Italian champions, but Inter and Juve are just behind them,” he said. “It will be a good title race.”
