Former Chelsea, Napoli, and AC Milan midfielder Samuele Dalla Bonna believes that Inter have made a significant improvement to their squad by signing Kristjan Asllani as a deputy to Marcelo Brozovic.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Dalla Bonna highlighted having a suitable backup to the Croat as a key reinforcement for next season, whilst he also named the return of Romelu Lukaku as an impactful signing.
Despite having had an overall positive season last time around, the Nerazzurri suffered in the rare moments when they couldn’t rely on the influence of Brozovic in midfield.
The 29-year-old missed just three games through suspension or injury, but Inter took just two points out of nine from those matches, a massive blow to their title pursuit.
A midfielder with the right characteristics to back up Brozovic was always a priority for the summer, and Asllani could be a decisive addition to improve the balance and depth of the squad for next season.
“Last year Inter had the best squad to win the title, today with the addition of Brozovic deputy they’ve improved even more,” Dalla Bonna argued. “Asllani will be important.”
He predicted that “Squad depth will matter more than anything over this long season, with many matches close together.”
Dalla Bonna also argued that “Inter moved well to sign Lukaku, he’s a striker who shifts the balance.”
