Inter-owned defender Lorenzo Pirola is happy to be at Salernitana where he will get his first real chance to sign in Serie A.

Speaking to the Campanian club’s official social media channel, via FCInterNews, Pirola noted that Salernitana had been a club who were very keen on his signature and spoke of being happy that they are giving him this chance.

Pirola spent the past two seasons on loan in Serie B with Monza, but after the newly-promoted team declined to activate the purchase option upon reaching the top flight, it was Salernitana who won the race for his signature.

The Granata are focusing on young Italian talent during their second season back in Serie A, and he will look to try and prove himself at this level and help them to reach safety and the guarantee of a third successive season in the Italian top flight.

The 20-year-old stated, “I’ve been feeling great since I had my medicals here in Salerno. I can’t wait to start my new adventure here.”

He continued that “I’m happy to take my opportunities at a club that really pushed to sign me, I can’t wait to start and to do everything I can for the coach.”

“Our goal is to have the best season we possibly can,” Pirola added, “we must aim high and reach safety, then we’ll see what happens. I thank the fans for welcoming me, especially on social media where I received a lot of messages. I can’t wait to see them at the stadium.”
