Forward Alexis Sanchez looks to be closer than ever to agreeing to terminate his contract with Inter following a meeting between his agents and the club earlier this afternoon.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 33-year-old’s representatives held a meeting with Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio where they ironed out the final details of his exit from the club.

Inter have been trying for much of the summer to convince Sanchez to leave as he is no longer a part of the plans for the team and they have been hoping to get his high wages off of their books in order to meet financial targets.

Now, the Chilean is set to join Marseille, and so there have been talks ongoing over the past few days to seal his departure.

The latest round of talks saw the terms of the severance payment that Sanchez will receive in order to terminate his contract discussed, with the player and his representatives asking for around €10 million gross while the club have offered €8 million gross.

After the discussions in today’s meeting, a final agreement reach should be reached some time between tonight and tomorrow.
