Inter are not planning to sign another forward to replace Alexis Sanchez following his departure, as they already feel that the attacking options in the squad are sufficient.

This according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin, who reported to Italian broadcaster Telelombardia that the Nerazzurri’s plan has always been to offload the Chilean and then stick with what they have.

Sanchez finally looks to be on his way from the Nerazzurri after three seasons at the club, with the club having pushed for a mutual termination of his contract with severance pay but the player having wanted to wait until he found a new club, which he has identified in the form of Marseille.

During the Nerazzurri’s failed pursuit of Paulo Dybala the sense had been that offloading Sanchez would be absolutely necessary before moving for the Argentine, but what was less certain was whether it would have been sufficient on its own.

Meanwhile, some forwards have been linked as possible like-for-like replacements now that Inter have finally reached an agreement on Sanchez’s departure, but Biasin believes that there is no chance of this.

“The departure of Sanchez changes very little,” he said. “It doesn’t mean new players will arive, Inter won’t sign any more forwards. Neither Mertens nor any others will arrive, the fifth attacker will be a young player, or if necessary Mkhitaryan will play an advanced role.”

“There are already four forwards who have the full confidence of the owners and the coaching staff,” he continued. “And as far as Dybala, nothing would have changed because Inter would have sign him if and only if one between Dzeko and Correa had also left, in addition to Sanchez and Pinamonti.”

“So it’s wrong to say that if Sanchez if he had left earlier, Dybala would have arrived,” Biasin explained. “Dybala took a back seat when the possibility of Lukaku opened up. With Bremer, Inter suffered from circumstances. With Dybala they chose Lukaku instead.”
