Marseille President Pablo Longoria has made clear that the Ligue 1 side have yet to sign Alexis Sanchez from Inter despite reports linking them to the Chilean.

Speaking at a press conference as the French club unveiled other signings, as reported by FCInterNews, Longoria responded to links between Marseille and Sanchez as well as Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout by stressing that they are not Marseille players as of this moment in time.

Marseille look to be close to signing Sanchez, with the player reportedly ready to accept their offer and to agree a termination of his Inter contract in order to do so.

The French side, who finished last season as Ligue 1 runners-up, are strengthening for the Champions League and so far have brought in fullbacks Jonathan Clauss and Nuno Tavares, goalkeeper Ruben Blanco, and former Granada striker Luis Suarez.

Longoria unveiled this quartet as official signings, but was clear that despite what’s been reported, Sanchez and Veretout are still at their current clubs.

“The transfer window is open until August 31,” the Marseille President stressed. Jordan Veretout and Sanchez are international-quality players, of the highest level, but I don’t like to talk about individual players.”

“At the moment they’re under contract with other clubs and we have to respect that,” he emphasized.
