The comments made by Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi about Andrea Pinamonti could be part of a strategy but they now have competition for the Inter forward, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, the way that Luca Percassi distanced his club from a move for Andrea Pinamonti may be tactical.

He essentially said that the 23-year-old is a very good player but La Dea are settled in attack with Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata.

He could be aiming for Inter to panic about not being able to offload a player that they expect to receive a transfer fee for. That could lead the Nerazzurri to accept a lower bid than the €20 million that they are commanding.

It may not work for Atalanta though as Sassuolo are back in the picture. They could lose Giacomo Raspadori and Domenico Berardi in this window and Andrea Pinamonti is a target in that instance.
