Newly-arrived Lecce midfielder Kristoffer Askildsen feels that the Apulian team will have the right motivation and quality to give Inter a tough game in the Serie A opener.

Speaking to at his unveiling for the newly-promoted club on loan from Sampdoria, as reported by FCInterNews, Askildsen stressed that they will not take the match against the Nerazzurri lightly despite the mismatch on paper.

Inter will travel to Apulia to face a newly-promoted Lecce, the same opponent from the start of the 2019-20 season, when Lecce were also coming up to Serie A after a successful promotion from the second division.

The Giallorossi will be under no illusion that the match will be anything other than one of their most difficult of the season, given that they face an opponent who finished second in the league last season in addition to winning the Coppa Italia, but Askildsen feels that he and his new teammates will be up for it.

“We have the Coppa on Friday and then Inter, and we’re ready,” he said. “We want to do well, we hope to see many fans at the stadium.”
