Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, Milan Skriniar, and Alessandro Bastoni look to be the four serious candidates to replace Samir Handanovic as Inter captain after the end of the upcoming season.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the current skipper is likely to depart after the end of next season, and that there are four players in the squad who could realistically inherit the armband from him.

Handanovic will stay at Inter for one more season after extending his contract by one year, but he is 37 and with his long-term successor in goal having arrived in the form of Andre Onana this should be his final year at the club.

The Slovenian has been the captain for three and a half years now, having taken over the armband from Mauro Icardi, and now the team are getting ready to move onto a new player in the role.

Brozovic is a pivotal player both on and off the bench and a charismatic leader within the squad so he is a logical candidate, whilst the likes of Skriniar, Barella, and Bastoni are all among the most vocal leaders in the team alongside Danilo D’Ambrosio and have been tipped as possible future captains.
