Forward Giacomo Raspadori had been courted by Inter at youth team level, but decided to join Sassuolo instead as he felt that he would receive more consistent playing time at a crucial time in his development.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who relate the anecdote that the 22-year-old had the option to join the Nerazzurri’s youth system but that he ended up at Sassuolo, who now look set to cash in by selling him to Napoli.

Raspadori has been one of the outstanding young talents to emerge in Serie A in recent years, and his progress has been very much in line with the Neroverdi’s reputation for developing top young players.

When he was ten, Raspadori had been the subject of interest from Inter’s youth scouts, but in the end he gravitated towards Sassuolo who offered the right environment for his development through the youth teams.
