Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is expecting that midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will be back from his calf injury in time for next weekend’s Serie A season opener against Lecce.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach is not worried that he’ll miss out on the 29-year-old through injury for very long despite his having been left out of yesterday’s friendly against Villarreal.

Brozovic was not called up for yesterday evening’s friendly clash with Villarreal, the Nerazzurri’s final friendly of the preseason, due to some discomfort with his calf experienced in training.

The issue was nothing more serious than some minor muscular fatigue but it was decided that the Croat should not be risked in the friendly match, with Kristjan Asllani starting at the base of midfield.

For next Saturday’s trip to face Lecce, however, Brozovic should be back in action with Inzaghi expecting that he’ll already have recovered to full fitness by that point.
