Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is not interested in making the switch to newly-promoted Monza, and would prefer a move to a team with European football.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 34-year-old wants to join a team playing in the Champions League or Europa League, with Inter one of the destinations having been linked for him.

Acerbi looks to be on the way out from Lazio, but as of yet his destination is uncertain, with a number of teams either having expressed interest or having been offered the former Sassuolo defender but no one having taken the decisive steps.

Monza have stepped up with interest, as they could see Acerbi as a solid option to add top flight experience for their first season in Serie A, but he has rejected a move to the Lombard team as he wants to join a team that has European football for next season.
