Villarreal wingback Alfonso Pedraza feels that his team did well to defeat Inter in yesterday evening’s preseason friendly clash given that he considers the Nerazzurri to be one of the strongest teams in Italy.

Speaking to his club’s official social media channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the Spaniard gave his thoughts on how the match had went and suggested that the fact that they performed well against a team of Inter’s quality was a good sign.

Inter and Villarreal each played their last friendly before the new season starts against each other, with both teams using the encounter as a gauge of how far along in their preparations they are and what more needs to be done.

If yesterday evening’s match is an indication, the Spanish side look to be closer to being ready for their season, as they were able to effectively exploit some defensive lapses by the Nerazzurri, and Pedraza feels that the quality of the opposition made this especially true.

“We had a good pre-season,” he said, “playing against high-level opposition. We finished by facing Inter, one of the best teams in Italy, and we played an excellent match, from the first minute onwards. We did everything well, it was a good preseason test.”
