Italian journalist Fabio Caressa believes that AC Milan and Juventus are the two teams in the strongest position to win the Serie A title this season, with Inter and the two clubs from the Italian capital behind them.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Caressa gave the view that the Rossoneri can defender their title from last season, whilst the Bianconeri were the team he named as being closest to challenging them rather than Inter or another team.

This season’s Serie A title race promises to be a competitive one, and could well be even closer than the one just gone, which was among the most dramatic that the Italian top flight has seen in a number of years.

Milan will come into the season among the favourites as the defending champions, whilst the transfer windows that all of Inter, Juventus, Roma, and Lazio have had have arguably seen all four improve, so they’ll hope to make up ground.

Caressa stated that “In my view, Milan and Juventus start ahead of the others, while Inter, Rome and Lazio are a step behind them.”

“The first two have a more solid base,” he argued. “The Bianconeri have changed a lot, they’ll need time, but they’ll be able to emerge. The Rossoneri are the reigning champions, and with Origi, De Ketelaere and Kjaer’s recovery they’ve added more quality.”
