Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has made winning the Serie A title his priority and isn’t overly concerned with any individual honours.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN in an interview published on their Twitter account, the Belgian emphasized that as long as the team is successful he isn’t going to be too concerned with whether or not he is able to finish as Capocannoniere in his return to the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku will undoubtedly be among the favourites to finish the season as top scorer in Serie A given how prolific he was in his two seasons already spent with Inter, but this is not guarantee of success for the team.

Over the past few seasons, the top scorer in the Italian top flight has not played for the team to have won the Scudetto, with Ciro Immobile having topped the scoring charts last time around as Lazio finished fifth.

In reality, there are many high-level strikers in Serie A capable of reaching impressive goalscoring tallies besides the Belgian, and his real aim will be to lead the team to the title with his all-around influence like he did during the 2020-21 campaign.

He noted that in Serie A, “All of the forwards are at a very high level, I don’t care about finishing as top scorer, if I’m being honest.”

“I’m only thinking about winning the Scudetto,” he stressed, “that’s the most important thing. Even better if the goals arrive, of course, but Inter fight for the Scudetto, not for individual honours.”
