Newly-promoted Monza are interested in signing Inter-linked Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi before the end of the transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 34-year-old is on the Lombard’s radar and is one of their main targets to bolster their backline for the season.

Acerbi remains persistently linked to Inter, with the experienced defender having worked with coach Simone Inzaghi for three seasons at the Biancocelesti and a possible low-cost signing to add depth to the defense following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia.

Monza were the club to sign Ranocchia, but they could also be interested in rivalling Inter for the signature of a possible replacement in the form of Acerbi.

Arsenal’s Pablo Mari and Real Betis’s Germain Pezzela are two other clubs on Monza’s radar, but they are serious about trying to sign Acerbi ahead of the Nerazzurri over the final weeks of the transfer window.
