Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has said that Francesco Acerbi is the cheapest defensive option for Inter but he is at the bottom of the list of targets, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by the journalist on Twitter, it is impossible to exclude Francesco Acerbi from the discussion when it comes to a new Inter defender to replace the depth that Andrea Ranocchia brought.

The man reason he cannot be excluded is his price: “Acerbi cannot be excluded from the list of possible solutions for one reason: he is the cheapest.”

He then explained that despite that economic advantage, the Italian is at the bottom of the list of targets. This is because he is slightly older than Andrea Ranocchia and will earn more than he was.

“He is at the bottom of the list, however, logic dictates: he was born six days before Ranocchia and earns more than him.”

By that logic, Inter would have been better off extending the contract of Andrea Ranocchia rather than letting him go to Monza on a free transfer and then spend most of the summer searching for his replacement.
