Inter will target either Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji or Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi to strengthen their defense before the transfer window closes.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Nerazzurri have all but narrowed down their targets to replace Andrea Ranocchia to Akanji and Acerbi.

In the event that any money is made available in the budget to sign a high-level option to reinforce in defense, the Nerazzurri will make their move for Akanji who could be available from Dortmund as things get closer to the end of August.

In the even that there a lower-cost solution is sought, then the target will be Acerbi, who remains admired by coach Simone Inzaghi and could be available for a very low fee or a loan.

There have been other names tracked by Inter for the defensive role, but at this stage Akanji and Acerbi look to be the two main names on their radar.
