Chelsea could try to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar during the final weeks of the transfer window in the event that they are unable to sign their number one target Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Blues could be ready to line up a move for Skriniar should they fail in their pursuit of Fofana.

Chelsea want to add one more top-level defender to their squad before the transfer window slams shut, having already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli but not feeling that this is sufficient to make up for the losses of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Leicester’s Fofana is the priority for the London club, but should the Foxes continue to resist their offers then they will still look to sign a defender, and Skriniar would be one of the main names on their list in this respect.
