Inter’s list of defensive reinforcements to sign before the summer transfer windows looks to have been narrowed down to either Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi or Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who repolrt that the Nerazzurri will sign one of the pair in order to satisfy coach Simone Inzaghi’s request to sign one specialist central defender to replace the departed Andrea Ranocchia.

Inzaghi has made what he wants clear to the club, with the coach expecting defender Milan Skriniar and wingback Denzel Dumfries to be “hands off” whilst one more defensive signing would be needed to ensure adequate depth in the backline.

Acerbi has long been on the Nerazzurri’s radar particularly given his experience working with Inzaghi, whilst Acerbi looks more and more like a possible opportunity given his contract situation at Borussia Dortmund.

One of the two should be brought in before the end of the transfer window and then this will end Inter’s incoming transfer business.
