Italian journalist Michele Criscitiello believes that Inter-owned goalkeeper Andrei Radu is not at the necessary level to play in Serie A following a disastrous debut on loan with newly-promoted Cremonese.

Tweeting after the match, Criscitiello identified the 25-year-old’s deficiencies with the ball at his feet and his positioning in goal as reasons why he will continue to struggle within the Italian top flight.

Radu had looked to be on his way to a solid debut with Cremonese in his first match with the newly-promoted, as while he had conceded two goals, there was not much that he could have done about either of them and the Romanian made some good saves when called upon.

This will have felt like a positive step given that Radu is aiming to find consistency and recover his confidence after his disastrous error in Inter’s 2-1 loss to Bologna in April.

However, everything seemed to go out the window in the final moments of the match when the Romanian seemed to lose his bearings on a Rolando Mandragora ball into the box and inadvertently carried the ball into his own net, allowing Fiorentina to win the match 3-2.

Criscitiello tweeted after the match, “I won’t write about it anymore because otherwise it will seem like a personal matter, but Radu, as a goalkeeper I’ve watched for years, cannot play in Serie A for two reasons.”

“He’s bad with his feet and bad at coming out of his goal,” he continued. “Undeniably excellent between the posts however.”
