Inter are only looking at Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi as a transfer target in the event that talks for other targets are not successful.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Nerazzurri would only consider moving for the 34-year-old later in the transfer window, if the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji and other possible defensive targets are not signed.

Acerbi is on Inter’s radar, and could be a like-for-like replacement for Andrea Ranocchia as a backup option to Stefan de Vrij at the heart of their defense, but they are looking at other options as well who are currently the priority options ahead of the Biancocelesti player.

Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji is a major target as the last signing to complete the defensive options for the upcoming season, but signing the 26-year-old won’t necessarily be easy if the Schwarzgelben don’t cooperate in negotiations.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is another player on the Nerazzurri’s radar, but the Premier League side could be hard to convince.

Accordingly, Acerbi is being kept in mind for later in the window if Inter do not sign another defender as it is a position they are very keen to sign a player in, but he would not be their first choice.
