Inter are ready to move for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji once they complete a sale of midfielder Cesare Casadei to Chelsea.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri will look to immediately reinvest some of the fee received for Casadei in signing Akanji to reinforce their defense.

Inter have reportedly identified Akanji as one of the priority targets to strengthen the depth in their backline following Andrea Ranocchia’s departure to Monza.

So far the club have not moved for the 26-year-old, which has partly been due to the lack of funds, but now that they are close to selling Casadei to Chelsea in a deal that could be worth up to €20 million, the money could now be available in the budget.

Casadei’s sale to Chelsea could be completed in the coming days, and after this Inter could move quickly for Akanji.
