Inter CEO Beppe Marotta’s plan is to try and convince Borussia Dortmund to extend defender Manuel Akanji’s contract and then to loan him out for the season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri CEO is hoping that the German club will become receptive to the possibility of a loan deal later in the window.
Akanji’s contract situation at Dortmund is such that the Schwarzgelben will want to find a new club for him by the end of the window rather than allow him to go into the final season of his deal, and Marotta is hoping that this can favour the Nerazzurri.
The Swiss international wants a move to Inter ahead of other possible destinations, and the Nerazzurri CEO is planning to try and use this to convince Dortmund to sanction a loan move.
At the moment, the Schwarzgelben are skeptical about extending Akanji’s contract by a year and then loaning him to Inter, but Marotta feels that their stance could soften as the transfer window drags on into its final day without a resolution to Akanji’s situati
