Inter do not feel that Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi would be the ideal alternative to signing Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji and would be more inclined to move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Japhet Tanganga.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that Acerbi would not be the main target for the Nerazzurri in the event that they miss out on Akanji.

Akanji looks to be the priority target to strengthen the defensive depth before the summer transfer window slams shut, but given that signing the 26-year-old from Dortmund could still prove to be tricky, alternatives are being lined up.

Even so, the Nerazzurri remain lukewarm on the prospect of making a move for Acerbi, even if coach Simone Inzaghi would be happy to reunite with the 34-year-old.

To this end, the Nerazzurri are sounding out the possibility of a move for Tanganga, who they would see as a more viable alternative to Akanji than Acerbi.
