Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that Inter will play a different style of football compared to last season now that striker Romelu Lukaku is back to give them a different type of focal point.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Condo gave his thoughts on how the Nerazzurri could change this time around with different personnel, namely Lukaku and also with Robin Gosens replacing Ivan Perisic in the starting eleven.

Inter clearly played the kind of football that they had done for much of last season in their opening outing against Lecce on Saturday, but in the final third things were different considering the Lukaku is certainly a different type of forward compared to Edin Dzeko.

The Nerazzurri were not yet at their best compared to the levels they have shown both last season and in the seasons prior when Lukaku was in the side.

However, in any event Condo believes that as the campaign wears on the new style of play will start to be seen which fits the Belgian into the team from last season and builds around his style of play.

“I imagine a Inter will play a different style, dovetailing from how Inzaghi had them play last season,” he predicted. “Not an Inter that just plays into space, but also one that dominates the penalty areas, and Lautaro will not have a subordinate role compared to Big Rom.”

He went on that “Gosens he is not Perisic, I hope that the German will return to his best form which currently looks far away. I expect a greater contribution from the midfielders and wingbacks.
