Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi has overtaken Manuel Akanji when it comes to Inter’s pursuit of a new defender, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.

As has been reported by Sport Mediaset today, via FCInter1908, the Italian defender is now more likely to join Inter than Manuel Akanji is.

There is an issue with signing the Swiss defender and it comes down to money. Borussia Dortmund want a fee in the region of €15-20 million which is far too much for Inter to spend.

It is a high fee considering he is out of the project at the Bundesliga club and he only has one year left to run on his current deal.

That is why Inter are leaving more towards Francesco Acerbi. Lazio president Claudio Lotito would be willing to let him go on loan and there are going to be new contacts very soon between the clubs.
