There will be more contact between Inter and Lazio today to try and settle on a deal for Francesco Acerbi, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Repubblica, the chances of Francesco Acerbi joining Inter appear to be rising rapidly in recent days.

The two most heavily linked defenders have been the Italian and Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji. Inter have been in contact with both players and clubs to try and lay the foundations for a deal.

Francesco Acerbi is the much easier player to acquire though given Lazio president Claudio Lotito is open to a loan deal.

He wants there to be a mandatory redemption whereas Inter CEO Beppe Marotta would rather that it was just an option.

There will be fresh talks today and Inter seem ready to try and accelerate the deal. They know that Simone Inzaghi expects a new defender.
