Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is glad to be back in front of the home supporters at the San Siro for another season.
Speaking to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with Spezia, the Nerazzurri’s first at home for the campaign, the 28-year-old gave his thoughts on what it means to be back at the San Siro, and also outlined the team’s objective for the season.
Inter opened their account in Serie A with a win last weekend, but did so away from home, travelling to Lecce for their first match of the season.
Now, they will have the opportunity to play in front of a sold-out San Siro once again, and it is a chance that the players are relishing given that they’ve been spending the summer preparing to try and give their fans something to cheer about.
“I’m always excited, and then today it’s special because we’re playing in front of our fans once again after having not done so in two months,” Calhanoglu said of the return to the San Siro.
Of the dangers posed by Spezia, Calhanoglu said that “They deserve to be in Serie A, they’re a strong team, we have to try to do our job as always. As with last season, we have to be energized because our goals are always the same as ever.”
