Inter’s Serie A clash away to Lazio on Friday August 26 could end up being the decisive day in their talks with the Biancocelesti to sign defender Francesco Acerbi.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the clubs could reach a final agreement on a deal for the 34-year-old to join Inter on an initial loan deal not long after they battle it out on the pitch at the start of next weekend.

Acerbi is very much on Inter’s radar to be the final signing of the summer and replace Andrea Ranocchia in the defensive depth chart, although there are also other targets who they are continuing to pursue for the time being.

A move for the former Sassuolo defender is not likely imminent in the next couple of days, but the situation is evolving closer and closer to the move particularly due to the Biancocelesti becoming more receptive to an initial loan deal.

The Nerazzurri are also considering other options for their defense, but if no other signings are made by the end of the week they could look to close on a deal for Acerbi after they face Lazio.
