Romelu Lukaku will finally be back at the San Siro this evening to face Spezia, and it will be the first time that the Belgian has played at the stadium in well over a year.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that the last time Lukaku played at the San Siro was 453 days ago.

Lukaku played many times at the San Siro, both in front of packed crowds and then, after the pandemic struck, in front of empty stands, and he certainly left his mark during that time.

Now the 29-year-old will have to do it all over again, having made the decision to leave with his final match in front of the Inter faithful during his first time around having taken place on May 23, 2021.

The first time around, Lukaku had no shortage of memorable moments at the San Siro, including leading the team to a 4-2 comeback in over AC Milan in a derby clash in his first season at the club and then a 3-0 win on the way to the Serie A title in his second.

Now, the pressure will be on the Belgian to prove himself at the stadium once again, and everything starts today.
