Inter had little trouble taking three points from their Serie A clash against Spezia, marking a significant difference from their first match of the campaign away to Lecce.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who note the contrast between how much the Nerazzurri seemed to have to put in to acquire the two respective wins in their first two matches of the season.
Inter had gotten the three points that they came for in their trip to Apulia to open their Serie A account for the season against newly-promoted Lecce, but it was not without some struggles.
The Nerazzurri looked laboured and sloppy at times, allowing the home side to impose a more physical gameplan on them, and their only response was to keep pushing with more attackers until substitute Denzel Dumfries found the winner in the final seconds.
Against Spezia, on the other hand, Inter always looked to be playing their game, with the style of play instantly recognizable as the one which they were successfully able to implement in their best moments of form last season.
Inter did not find their opener as early as they had against Lecce, where Romelu Lukaku had broken through within two minutes, but unlike in the win against Lecce they kept turning the screw and killed the game off early in the second half rather than needing to wait until the very end.
