Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is dedicated to trying to keep learning and improving to show that he deserves to be an important player at a club like the Nerazzurri.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the team’s 3-0 Serie A win over Spezia yesterday evening, the 24-year-old stressed the importance of repaying the faith that has been put in him, and also hoped that his strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku can get back to its former level.
Martinez was Inter’s top scorer last season, whilst the Argentine was also awarded with a significant contract extension which makes him one of the highest-paid players and the club.
Moreover, despite the fact that there has always been transfer interest in Martinez from a number of Europe’s top clubs, the Nerazzurri made it clear that he was not for sale over the summer transfer window.
This is a lot of pressure on the Argentine’s shoulders to try and live up to, but for his part the most important thing is just working to try and show that the club’s trust is not misplaced.
“I’m here to help my teammates and learn from everyone,” he said. “I always try to learn and then to pay back the trust that they give me on the pitch.”
And when asked about whether he thinks his partnership with Lukaku is already getting back to its best, Martinez said that “I hope so. We’re off to a great start, we have six points from six and that’s what matters.”
