Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that it is rare for Italian clubs to have a player at the level of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in this day and age.

Tweeting after the Argentine’s goal and stellar performance in yesterday evening’s Serie A win over Spezia, Biasin suggested that Martinez has reached a mature phase in his development as a striker, and that there are few players of his level in the Italian top flight.

Martinez announced his return in front of the San Siro in yesterday’s match, looking bright for the early minutes and then being rewarded with a goal, quickly putting the memory of a slightly inauspicious start against Lecce behind him.

The 24-year-old has not always had things easy at Inter, having suffered from goal droughts and some suggestions that he could not hit top form consistently or lead the line for a team like the Nerazzurri last season in particular.

However, Martinez’s display against Spezia suggests that he could be ready to have a very positive impact this time around, and this is certainly the view of Biasin.

He tweeted, “The way Lautaro has approached the season – his condition, his attitude – are typical of a player who has reached full maturity. For this league, players like that are currently a rarity. Let’s keep this in mind when he goes two or three matches without scoring.”
