Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is very close to joining Inter on loan with a purchase option, and the deal could be done as early as this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the talks for the 34-year-old’s arrival are in their final stages, and that he could arrive within the next few days.

Inter have been stepping up their interest in signing Acerbi as the Biancocelesti defender looks to be the most realistic target to add to the defensive depth before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The deal is not yet done, but the agreement is there between the Nerazzurri and the Biancocelesti, while the player’s desire is very much to make the switch.

Accordingly, it looks to be more of a matter of when rather than if the 34-year-old joins Inter before the end of the window, with the formula being a loan move with a purchase option.
