Francesco Acerbi Is Simone Inzaghi’s Top Priority To Be Stefan De Vrij Backup At Inter, Italian Media Report

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s first choice to be the backup to Stefan de Vrij at the centre of the back three this season.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Nerazzurri coach is keen on a reunion with the 34-year-old with whom he worked for three seasons while at Lazio, and that the player has promised to secure a move from the Biancocelesti.

Inter still have not settled on a final decision regarding their final defensive signing before the summer transfer window closes, although they look to be getting closer and closer to a move for Acerbi ahead of their other targets.

For his part, coach Inzaghi would welcome a move for the 34-year-old, who was a fixture of his Biancocelesti for three season, and this would be his priority for the role.

Acerbi told the coach that he would do everything he could to convince Lazio to let him join Inter on loan, and his agent Federico Pastorello looks to have done exactly that in talks with Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito.
