Inter are still waiting to see what happens with Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji before they take the decisive steps to sign Francesco Acerbi on loan from Lazio.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Nerazzurri still have not completely given up hope for Akanji, and that they will wait a little longer before the decide to finally move for Acerbi instead.

Akanji has been one of Inter’s priority targets to be the final defensive signing of the summer transfer window, although bringing him in could prove to be impossible if Dortmund continue to hold out for a substantial transfer fee.

However, the Nerazzurri still feel that it is possible that the Schwarzgelben could soften their stance before the transfer window closes and that a deal for Akanji would be possible, and if this were to happen then they would have a choice to make between the Swiss international and Acerbi.
